Korean Cultural Center in Thailand Successfully Hosts "Korean Sound" Performance to commemorate Pre-Opening

The Korean Cultural Center in Thailand hosted the "Korean Sound" performance by the National Orchestra of Korea at the Center's Multipurpose Hall at 18:00 on August 19. Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE) as part of the '2026 Touring K-Arts' project, the performance featured next-generation artists, including 11 young trainee artists from the National Orchestra of Korea and one from the National Changgeuk Company of Korea. They showcased vocal performances and played various traditional Korean instruments such as the Gayageum, Geomungo, Daegeum, Piri, Haegeum, and Daeajaeng.

Particularly, "Korean Sound" held profound meaning as it was the first performance to commemorate the pre-opening of the Center following its relocation to the Thong Lo area of Bangkok in June. The event was attended by over 160 key figures from the government, academia, cultural sectors, and the press, who showed enthusiastic responses. Attendees included H.E. Park Yong-min, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Thailand, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Culture, the Creative Economy Agency (CEA), the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), the cultural centers of Turkey, India, and France in Thailand, the Bunditpatanasilpa Institute, and Chulalongkorn University.

The performers captivated the audience with a diverse repertoire encompassing both Jeongak (traditional court music in Korea) and contemporary original compositions, including 'Yangcheong Dodeuri', the 'The Palace Guards (Jwau-najol)' scene from the pansori Sugungga, 'Suryuhwagae', and 'The Colors of Time'. In the final piece, 'Together Arirang', the ensemble played the Thai folk song 'Lao Duang Duean' and the Korean folk song 'Arirang' using traditional Korean instruments, accompanied by a pansori singer, fostering a sense of cultural connection between Korea and Thailand.

Director Lee Sunju of the Korean Cultural Center stated, "We organized this performance because the passion and direction of these young artists—who strive to share Gugak, the roots of Korean music, with the global audience today—align with the vision of the Korean Cultural Center in Thailand." She added, "We will continue to create opportunities for exchange between young artists from both countries so that the newly relocated Center can serve as a cradle where future generations of Korea and Thailand can communicate and create together through culture."

Meanwhile, the Center is scheduled to officially reopen in the fourth quarter of this year. It is currently hosting a variety of programs, including the exhibition “Adornment: Decorating the Meaning of Life,” which revisits Korean adornment culture through traditional accessories and crafts in the Traditional Culture Room on the first floor, as well as Korean film screenings, Korean language and cooking classes, and field trips.

ศูนย์วัฒนธรรมเกาหลีประจำประเทศไทย ประสบความสำเร็จในการจัดแสดง "Korean Sound" ฉลองการเปิดให้บริการอย่างไม่เป็นทางการ

ศูนย์วัฒนธรรมเกาหลีประจำประเทศไทยได้จัดการแสดง "Korean Sound" โดยวงดุริยางค์แห่งชาติเกาหลี ณ ห้องอเนกประสงค์ของศูนย์วัฒนธรรมฯ เมื่อวันที่ 19 สิงหาคม เวลา 18.00 น. การแสดงนี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของโครงการ '2026 Touring K-Arts' ซึ่งได้รับการสนับสนุนจากกระทรวงวัฒนธรรม กีฬา และการท่องเที่ยวแห่งสาธารณรัฐเกาหลี และมูลนิธิเกาหลีเพื่อการแลกเปลี่ยนวัฒนธรรมระหว่างประเทศ (KOFICE) โดยมีศิลปินรุ่นใหม่สังกัดในโครงการพัฒนายุวศิลปิน จากวงดุริยางค์แห่งชาติฯ 11 คน และจากคณะชางกึกละครร้องเพลงแห่งชาติเกาหลี 1 คน มาร่วมแสดงการขับร้องและบรรเลงเครื่องดนตรีเกาหลีดั้งเดิมอันหลากหลาย เช่น คายากึม, คอมุนโก, แทกึม, พีรี, แฮกึม และแทอาแจง

การแสดง "Korean Sound" ในครั้งนี้มีความสำคัญอย่างยิ่ง เนื่องจากเป็นการแสดงครั้งแรกเพื่อเฉลิมฉลองการเปิดให้บริการอย่างไม่เป็นทางการ (Pre-Opening) หลังจากที่ศูนย์วัฒนธรรมฯ ได้ย้ายที่ทำการไปยังย่านทองหล่อ กรุงเทพฯ เมื่อเดือนมิถุนายนที่ผ่านมา ภายในงานมีบุคคลสำคัญจากทั้งภาครัฐ แวดวงวิชาการ วัฒนธรรม และสื่อมวลชนเข้าร่วมกว่า 160 ท่าน นำโดย ฯพณฯ นายปาร์ค ยงมิน เอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณรัฐเกาหลีประจำประเทศไทย พร้อมด้วยผู้แทนจากกระทรวงวัฒนธรรม สำนักงานส่งเสริมเศรษฐกิจสร้างสรรค์ (CEA) กรุงเทพมหานคร ศูนย์วัฒนธรรมตุรกี อินเดีย และฝรั่งเศสประจำประเทศไทย สถาบันบัณฑิตพัฒนศิลป์ และจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย

คณะนักแสดงได้สร้างความประทับใจให้กับผู้ชมด้วยบทเพลงที่หลากหลาย ซึ่งครอบคลุมทั้งเพลงชองอัก (Jeongak - ดนตรีราชสำนักดั้งเดิมของเกาหลี) และเพลงแต่งใหม่ร่วมสมัย ไม่ว่าจะเป็น 'ยางชองโดดือรี', ฉาก 'ชวาอูนาโจล' หนึ่งในตอนของพันโซรี เรื่องซูกุงกา, 'ซูรยูฮวาแก' และ 'สีสันแห่งกาลเวลา' นอกจากนี้ ในบทเพลงสุดท้าย 'Together Arirang' ได้มีการนำเพลงพื้นบ้านของไทยอย่าง 'ลาวดวงเดือน' และเพลงพื้นบ้านของเกาหลีอย่าง 'อารีรัง' มาบรรเลงด้วยเครื่องดนตรีเกาหลีดั้งเดิม พร้อมกับการขับร้องพันโซรี ซึ่งถ่ายทอดความเชื่อมโยงทางวัฒนธรรมระหว่างไทยและเกาหลีผ่านเสียงดนตรีได้อย่างลึกซึ้ง

นางซอนจู ลี ผู้อำนวยการศูนย์วัฒนธรรมเกาหลี กล่าวว่า "เราจัดการแสดงครั้งนี้ขึ้นเนื่องจากความมุ่งมั่นและแนวทางของศิลปินรุ่นใหม่ที่พยายามนำเสนอ กุกอัก (Gugak) ซึ่งเป็นรากฐานของดนตรีเกาหลี ให้ผู้ชมทั่วโลกในปัจจุบันสามารถเพลิดเพลินไปด้วยกันได้นั้น สอดคล้องกับวิสัยทัศน์ของศูนย์วัฒนธรรมเกาหลีประจำประเทศไทย" และยังกล่าวเสริมว่า "เราจะเดินหน้าสร้างโอกาสในการแลกเปลี่ยนระหว่างศิลปินเยาวชนของทั้งสองประเทศอย่างต่อเนื่อง เพื่อให้ศูนย์วัฒนธรรมเกาหลีแห่งใหม่นี้ เป็นแหล่งบ่มเพาะที่คนรุ่นใหม่ของทั้งสองประเทศสามารถสื่อสารและสร้างสรรค์ผลงานร่วมกันผ่านวัฒนธรรม"

ทั้งนี้ ศูนย์วัฒนธรรมฯ มีกำหนดเปิดให้บริการอย่างเป็นทางการในไตรมาสที่ 4 ของปีนี้ โดยปัจจุบันได้มีการจัดกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ มากมาย อาทิ นิทรรศการ “Adornment: Decorating the Meaning of Life” ซึ่งนำเสนอวัฒนธรรมการประดับตกแต่งของเกาหลีผ่านเครื่องประดับและงานหัตถกรรมดั้งเดิม ณ ห้องวัฒนธรรม ชั้น 1 ตลอดจนการฉายภาพยนตร์เกาหลี หลักสูตรภาษาเกาหลีและอาหารเกาหลี รวมถึงกิจกรรมทัศนศึกษา
